Gooey rib action - loved by all (well, at least us four!)

Check out the new rib recipe we tried this past Sunday. They came out super-yummy and its way better than the boil-n-BBQ method.

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me...

Well, a few months ago I mentioned to Peggy that I wouldn't mind picking up the Fluglehorn or Trumpet again. She took it to heart and started shopping around. On craigslist.org she stumbled across a musician that was desperate for some immediate moolah and made an awesome score! Check it out...

That's right! One of each, both in silver plate. They're just awesome! Now I have to get serious about playing again.

In the trumpet case you can see some tiger eyes. That's a cross-stitch eyeglass case that Peggy started for me back when we lived in Okinawa! She finished it a couple of days ago and it's really cool. Yay!

Might as well have been Labor Day weekend...

We spent our memorial day weekend getting ready for the pool guys who started remodeling our pool today. They needed a space to move the pump/filter around the back of the shop and also more room behind the water feature to add a new waterfall. We decided the best thing to do was put up some retaining wall blocks along the irrigation area and back-fill behind them.

After spending Friday night, Saturday and Monday hauling and placing 52-pound blocks we finally got it done. It was good practice for getting the same thing done along the driveway going into the shop. That's some other weekend...

Thanks you, Scott and Kari for dropping by Friday and helping unload a truckload of blocks!

Parashant Ride 2009

A big thanks to Dad and Kendall for arranging a great 3-day ride around the Parashant and Arizona Strip! It was a real blast and I can't wait for the next one!

In the picture below you can see the participants. Left to right they are; Eric, Scott, Dad (Warren), Uncle Kendall, Cousin Nate, me, and Kevin.

Reviewing these pictures, I realized that I can totally see Grandpa Charlie when I look at Kendall!

Okay...We're starting to sound like gun nuts!

Well, we're not. Really. We just like them and it's fun to shoot once in a while. Most of the shooting takes place getting the hunting rifle sighted in before deer or elk season.

That being said, we've been active about guns lately because our basic right to own them is under serious threat by the real nut-jobs that think they know how to run our life and raise our kids better than we do. The only reason to take guns away from law-abiding citizens it to increase the level of control over them. This works by creating fear in citizens that their only protection lies with the government, which in turn will garner the government even more unrighteous power over it's citizens.

Our constitutional rights are carefully and steadily being stolen from us, especially over the past 50 years or so. Meanwhile, we're stuck with a liberal minority and supporting government that continually force us to be more and more tolerant of evil and sin. No longer are we allowed to confront wickedness in every form, but must be accepting or be confronted with harassment and lawsuits for expressing a conservative opinion. At the same time the wicked are encouraged to flaunt their sin the face of our children. Where does it stop?

Well, it stops with me. It stops with you. And it stops with every other citizen who will to stand up against the creep of wickedness. Do something, and do it now. Start by refusing to be "Politically Correct." Political Correctness is just sanctioned lying and forces us to be tolerant of things we disagree with. Think about it...it'll come to you.

Klara's new hardware

This week was Klara's birthday. Aside from the usual girly birthday junk, she got an air rifle. It's a Crossman Storm XT break-barrel single-shot pellet rifle in .177 caliber. Don't be fooled by the words "air rifle." This ain't no rickety little back-yard-tin-can-shootin' toy. It produces muzzle velocities of up to 1200 feet per second! That challenges most .22 LR's for speed and accuracy. Come to think of it, maybe we should have just picked up the single-shot bolt action .22 with the pink stock we saw at Walmart the other day... Naw, this is much nicer.

Don't mess with Texas! . . . er, Klara!

BTW - Nothing expresses our sentiment better than a happy gun-owning American wearing a tee shirt with peace signs on it. I didn't even have to ask her to do that! Peace thru power, Ya'll!
